Gone are those dark days when you could only consume both cold and hot, beans and rice without a portable car fridge on your camping trip. Portable car refrigerators are perfect for outdoor use, whether you're camping in a tent or needing an extra cool place for your food in a caravan.
A portable refrigerator is compact and lightweight. Your food fits easily inside and some models even include a freezer. It is possible to get a model that can be charged by plugging into any outlet, including 12 volts. A 12 volt DC outlet is the type of outlet you can find in your car or use to power the electronics in your boat or caravan.
Ideally, people want equipment that is lightweight and easy to carry when camping. A refrigerator is certainly no exception to this equipment, especially if you do not have a permanent refrigerator installed in your vehicle. Portable refrigerators can provide you with flexibility while traveling, keeping your food fresh until you consume it. If you're tent camping or have a caravan without a refrigerator, a portable tool refrigerator is a must-have for camping with perishable food supplies. In addition, a freezer compartment eliminates the need to constantly renew ice. If your vehicle or caravan already has one built-in refrigerator, a mobile portable car refrigerator will still serve a purpose. For example, you can take it on day trips. If you have a portable 12V refrigerator, you can plug it into your car wherever you are. With this option, it's easy to eat healthier meals while keeping your eating out costs low.
Energy Consumption of Portable Vehicle Refrigerators
Imagine a boiling kettle. A kettle adds heat energy to water and eventually turns liquid water into a gas: steam. The refrigerant used in refrigerators is another chemical that is liquid at very cold temperatures and a gas at room temperature.
All of this refrigerant is stored in a system of pipes and tubes. At the center of this cycle is something called a compressor. The compressor pressurizes the gas until it becomes liquid. The liquid refrigerant then leaves the compressor into the evaporator tube. This evaporator is located inside the walls of your refrigerator. Just as water absorbs heat from the kettle when it boils, the cooler absorbs all the heat from your refrigerator when it turns back to gas. The heated refrigerant then flows down the evaporator tubes to the condenser, where it waits to be recompressed by the compressor.
This is the basic working principle of the refrigerator in your home. But all these refrigerators work with 120V alternating current. Compressors require a lot of energy to operate. If you try to run it directly from your car battery with a small inverter, your battery will run out in a few minutes. So, as a manufacturer of portable car refrigerators, we had to be really creative when designing a cooler that could consume low voltage DC power.
Thanks to our state-of-the-art products and designs, you don't have to spend time doing any wiring and installing them. Throw your portable car refrigerator in your travel and camping vehicle, plug it into a standard 12V outlet and forget about it. However, there are important factors such as battery protection that you should double-check before doing so. Happily, with Fridgers protection systems, it detects and prevents possible fault situations without you having to think and check.
